Full virtual hosting provides a separate IP address.
Many resellers buy web space in quantity for a few dollars a month per hosted
domain, sometimes less. They resell space for over $35 per month.
If you even have access to a CGI bin for running scripts, you must sometimes
share that with everyone else. So you have to be careful how you name
your script files, so they don't get tangled up with other people's script.
Same way with e-mail. It can get tangled. There is really no
limit how many people they can put on the same IP address. Bandwidth
is shared, so the host can guess at some people not using their full allotment,
and maybe resell a few more cyberstalls.
Open Veld
provides only Full Virtual Hosting. Except for the UniWeb,
which is a domain parking plan, you get your own IP address, and your own
control panel. And many e-mail options are included, such as email
forwarding, autoresponders, and POP and SMTP mail servers. (But we
do not provide internet service; you still need an ISP to dial in on a modem.)
With the Professional plan and higher you get your own CGI bin where you
can do anything you want, assuming it's legal. Speaking of rules,
we ask that you avoid activity that can damage the quality of service to
other internet users, which would include spamming, discrimination, defamation,
and other unlawful acts. (See our Acceptable
Uses Policy.) |
